Award Winning Barber
All I can say is wow I did it!! I brought home a third place trophy in my second competition. My coworkers and I from Erskine Reeves Barbers, Larue Lawson and Steve Wren, drove out to Indiana and compete in the Crossroads Barber competition.
I didn't know what to expect but I know we didn't want to leave from there without a trophy. Loosing in the Proud Lady, really grew me and humbled me. I'm grateful to God first of all for allowing me to have a great model Leython Williams and giving me the vision to create a great piece of art. The feeling I felt when my name was called was surreal.
I honestly thought I didn't hear what I heard. Johnnie Griffin come on up, congratulations you've won third place. My mouth dropped and all I could here was my brothers Larue and Steve scream A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was an even greater feeling to hear his name called for 2nd place.
It felt like we won a playoff game on the road, we weren't in our home state and two barbers from the same shop brought home some hardware. This may not be a big deal to some but for me it is. I'll never forget where I came from, being the worst barber in the shop at one point to one of the best and winning a trophy. The first trophy will always be special.
On to the next one...
Please be sure to check out my bros work on there instagram pages. Excellent barbers and great men with integrity.
