Consistency Vs Perfection

As barbers,  we all struggle from time to time with being consistent versus being perfect on each haircut. As human beings we have to except the fact that we are not perfect and will make mistakes. The key is finding that perfect balance of perfection and consistency. As a professional my clients have told me like man the way you did my hair last week was superb! In my mind I'm like did I do anything different? Constantly trying to find the perfect blend of consistency and perfection. Most people keep coming back to a barber that's consistent not perfect, humble and not prideful. People like to feel secure with their barber and enjoy their time getting there service. Don't try to impress the barbers you work with, impress your client. Barbers could be very competitive and it's a good thing to a certain degree. Clients need not to feel that energy when you are servicing them. They need to know you are 100% focused on them and them alone. I've done my best work when I'm not talking or joking around with my coworkers. Having a system for each cut and visualizing your work before you start, will help you cut faster and more accurate. A master barber which I am not yet, has mastered the art of barbering but more importantly they've conquered the struggle of being perfect and consistent. I'm striving to be a master one cut at a time.
